The previous year's tournament champions, Madrid's "Atletico" players, suffered a defeat away with a score of 1-0 against Thessaloniki's "Aris" team.
Both English clubs - "Manchester City" and "Liverpool" - recorded the first three points on their tournament table, while only "Getafe" from Spain celebrated a victory.
