One of the leaders of Munich, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, claims that his club is currently stronger and more successful than Real Madrid.
Such statements were prompted by rumors in the media that the Spanish vice-champions would like to see defender Philipp Lahm and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in their team. They are also interested in Frenchman Franck Ribery.
"Real Madrid has an excellent reputation, but Bayern is a better and currently more successful team," the chairman of the German champions quoted by "Bild". "I believe we can reach an agreement and extend the contracts of Philipp and Bastian until 2015."
Furthermore, it is expected that head coach Louis van Gaal's signature on a new contract will also help.
"We are satisfied with his work. We want to extend the contract and hope that we will have something to announce by Christmas," he added.
