Jose Mourinho will not temporarily take over the Portugal national team - this was indicated by Real Madrid's general director Jorge Valdano.
The Portuguese Football Federation wanted the specialist training the Spanish vice-champions to take over the national team for two matches.
Valdano said: "This issue has already been resolved. We have not received an official request from Portugal and have declared our position."
Although Mourinho himself was inclined to accept the offer: "I am sincere and I can admit that I am sad that I will not be able to coach the national team," said Mourinho. "But I have no right to demand anything from the Real leaders. The situation is complex."
