Spanish media reports that one of the wealthiest clubs in Spain, Atletico Madrid, has set their sights on Bulgarian player Martin Petrov, who currently represents the club.

Atletico recently decided to strengthen both attacking wings, and one of the candidates to occupy the position of left attacking midfielder is Petrov. This Bulgarian player scored a goal this week against Barcelona in a friendly match between the Catalan superclub and the World Team, grabbing Madrid club's attention.

In the Bundesliga this season, Petrov has already scored seven goals, and his team is currently in fourth place. It's worth mentioning that he scored four goals against Mainz.

Petrov's contract with Wolfsburg is valid until the summer of 2007, but there is a condition in the contract allowing his contract to be bought out for 7 million euros (about 24 million litas).

Interest in Petrov, as well as Danish national team player and Birmingham winger Jesper Gronkjaer, who plays on the right attacking midfielder position, was confirmed by Atletico's coach himself, stating that both "are excellent players."
