Munich strategist Louis van Gaal insists that his team is playing much better than last season.
"I'm not going to complain," the Dutchman told the SID news agency. "I analyze the season and I can't say that we are playing poorly. We are performing much better than last year."
After four rounds of the German championship, Bayern Munich is in ninth place with five points, trailing the leader Mainz by 7 points. Additionally, the team has a negative goal difference.
Last season at the same time, the country's champions were in eighth place with the same number of points, but with a positive goal difference.
According to van Gaal, the players need to cope with the pressure after unsuccessful matches: "It's all in the mind. The players know what happens when we have so few points. We feel pressure from the outside - from the media, from the club's leaders. It's normal. We are a big team that should be at the top."
