Lisbon signed a new long-term contract with the highly valued defender Fabio Coentrao.

The contract, which will be valid until the summer of 2016, includes a redemption fee of 30 million euros.

The 22-year-old footballer started his career at the "Rio Ave" team, and joined "Benfica" in 2007. However, he was also loaned to the "Nacional", "Real Zaragoza" and "Rio Ave" clubs.

Returning to "Benfica" in 2009, Coentrao established himself in the main lineup and shone in the summer world championship, where he represented the Portuguese national team.

As previously announced, Turin's "Juventus" and Munich's "Bayern" were interested in acquiring the defender, but these intentions will have to be forgotten for now.
