According to the team captain John Terry, this season the most important thing for London owner Roman Abramovich is to win the Champions League tournament.
Despite their successful performance in both national championships and often in prestigious club football tournaments on the old continent, the team from the capital has never won the Champions League trophy.
"You can't consider the Champions League or the English championship more important than each other," Terry said. "However, the Champions League attracts us immensely - both the owner and the coach want to win trophies."
"One of the reasons Carlo Ancelotti was chosen is his experience and previous victories in Europe," he added.
