Lionel Messi was awarded the "Golden Boot" on Thursday - the prize given to the most effective footballer of the last season's European national championships.
The Argentine helped the Catalan club defend the Spanish champion title by bypassing opponents' goalkeepers 34 times.
"All awards are special, but I am very grateful to my teammates for this one," Messi said. "I wouldn't have won it without them. I just try to play well and help the team as much as possible."
Messi became only the fourth footballer after Marco van Basten, Ronaldo, and Cristiano Ronaldo to win all three prestigious individual awards - FIFA Player of the Year, the "Golden Ball," and the "Golden Boot."
In second place after Messi was Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Udinese's attacking leader Antonio di Natale, who scored 29 accurate shots.
Interestingly, Uruguayan Luis Suarez scored 35 goals in the Dutch championship, but because the coefficient of this country's league is considered lower, the award went to Messi.
