Opponent terror turned "bone-breaker" Nigel De Jong was excluded from the Dutch national team lineup for the European Championship qualifying matches against Moldova and Sweden.

Coach Bert van Marwijk made this decision after a weekend English championship match, in which De Jong representing "Man City" severely injured "Newcastle" defender Hatem Ben Arfa and broke the Frenchman's leg in two places.

"It was a wild and unnecessary action," said van Marwijk. "Nigel has problems crossing the line."

And he added: "Funny, but he wasn't even cautioned with a yellow card."

De Jong is in the spotlight for his playing style not for the first time - before, he broke the shin bone of the USA national team defender Stuart Holden in a match, and in the World Cup, he struck Spain's Xabi Alonso in the chest in a move reminiscent of wrestling.

Dutch journalist Hugo Borst referred to De Jong as a criminal in a live broadcast after the latest incident, and Rotterdam "Sparta" strategist Jan Everse recommended the defender to see a psychiatrist.
