Strategist Laurent Blanc, who is currently experiencing some difficult times with the French national team, is turning to a psychologist for help.
The specialist joining the national team will be responsible for creating psychological profiles of the players and thus facilitating the coach's communication with them.
"I hope that the psychologist will help us better understand the person behind the player's uniform," Blanc said. "We want to have more information about each individual on the team."
Beginning to prepare for the European Championship qualifying tournament on Tuesday, the French team met with a specialist for the first time, whose work is being observed by doctor Fabrice Bryand.
"In individual sports, the best athletes have their own psychologist assistants," added Blanc. "We know about the excellent results in golf and tennis. It's a bit more complicated in team sports because there are many different characters, some are introverts, others are extroverts."
"When we start talking about psychology or psychiatry, many problems arise. Some think: 'no, I really don't need that, I know myself perfectly.' But often, even at the age of 80, you cannot say that. So a person who can help football players get to know themselves better will not harm anyone."
