Del Bosque: It was not easy to defeat the Lithuanians © EuroFootball.com

"The coach of the Spanish national team, Vicente Del Bosque, praised the opponents after the victory against Lithuania and was happy with the three points earned.

"We dominated the match and spent most of the time in the opponents' half," the coach said. "But their speed in counterattacks struck us. It's a shame we didn't score earlier, but in the end we did."

When asked if he expected the Lithuanians to play so defensively, Del Bosque said: "Yes, that's exactly what we were expecting. I have to praise the Lithuanians because they played well. We didn't have much space, so we tried to play through the middle. It's great that we managed to score three goals by passing the ball into the center of the penalty area."

And he added: "The most important thing was to earn three points and we managed to do that."
