Court greenlights the sale of "Liverpool" © EuroFootball.com

The club will soon be able to transition to new owners' hands - on Wednesday, the court announced a verdict recognizing that current owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have no right to interfere with the sales process.

The Americans claimed that chairman Martin Broughton cannot sell the club without their consent. However, this is possible because with the votes of two other board members, who Hicks and Gillett were trying to dismiss at the last moment, they had three votes against the two of the American duo.

Hicks and Gillett had to comply with restrictions because they owe nearly £300 million to a Scottish bank.

The court's decision, if not appealed, will allow Broughton to continue the sales process. The most realistic contender to acquire the club is NESV, which offered £300 million, although there is also Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim, offering slightly more - £320 million.

The board will meet and consider offers on Wednesday evening.
