Violent hooligans who interrupted the European Championship match between the national teams of Italy and Serbia were condemned in the pages of newspapers in both countries.

One of Italy's biggest sports newspapers, "Gazzetta dello Sport," printed a photo of the alleged hooligan leader Ivano Bogdanov, wearing black shirts with a skull and making a fascist gesture on the front page and simply wrote: "Monster."

"We wanted to describe the football match. Instead, we have to talk about this shameful incident. Here is the evening hero, dressed in black. Monster," the text adds.

Colleagues at "Corriere della Sera" commented, "The English were disqualified from football for five years after the Heysel tragedy. It's time to impose such a punishment on others."

Meanwhile, "La Repubblica" warns about the growing and aggressive ranks of ultranationalists in Eastern Europe - Hungary, Poland, Russia, Serbia.

"The next European Championship will take place in Poland and Ukraine. It will not be pleasant," adds "La Repubblica."

"This is a disgrace for the whole country. Scandal," said the head of the Serbian Football Association.
