Meanwhile, Arsenal at home recovered from a conceded goal and defeated Birmingham 2-1.
In the 33rd minute, the visitors took the lead when Nikola Zigic headed the ball into the net. This would have been Arsenal's third consecutive failure, but Arsene Wenger's team did not break and Samir Nasri scored from the penalty spot, while Marouane Chamakh secured the win.
