Ancelotti about working in the England national team: why not? © EuroFootball.com

Standing at the helm of a club near London, Italian Carlo Ancelotti does not rule out the possibility of taking over the reins of the English national team in the future.

Currently, the English team is managed by Ancelotti's fellow countryman Fabio Capello, but after the 2012 European Championship finals, he plans to step down from his position.

Although English football officials would prefer a local specialist in the role, it is likely that there will also be prominent foreign candidates.

When asked about working with the England team, Ancelotti said: "Why not? In the future, I would like to gain that experience.

"I have never worked with a national team before. This is very different from working with a club. Perhaps 'Tottenham' manager Harry Redknapp doesn't like foreign coaches in the national team, but if you asked me: why not?"
