The club currently occupying the fourth place in the French "Ligue 1" championship announced that with the opening of the winter transfer window, Bixente Lizarazu may leave the team.
Both players joined "Marseille" just this summer, but they failed to establish themselves in the main squad.
Lizarazu spoke about the possibility of leaving the team after the new coach, Philippe Troussier, did not include him in his tactical plans. Upon learning that he was not included in the starting lineup for this weekend's "Ligue 1" match, Lizarazu even refused to take the field after being substituted.
If the former Bayern player continues to struggle to find common ground with the team's coach, he does not rule out the possibility that in that case he may end his career as a professional footballer.
The future of Benoit Pedretti in the "Marseille" team also hangs by a thread, as the player cannot seem to adapt to the team's playing style and demonstrate the level of play he showed last year while representing the club.
It is quite possible that when clubs are allowed to buy and sell players again, "Marseille" may loan out their defender until the end of the season. Pedretti himself seems not to object to this possibility.
