The new coach of the Mexican national team Jose Manuel De La Torre has been appointed, with the task of earning a ticket to the final stage of the 2014 World Cup. The 44-year-old specialist will replace Javier Aguirre, who resigned after a defeat in the second stage of the summer world championship. The team was temporarily led by Enrique Meza, later by Efrain Flores, but eventually a contract was signed with De La Torre. The new strategist has won the Mexican championship three times, most recently with his current club "Toluca."
