Jose Mourinho admitted he would like to see Wayne Rooney at Real Madrid, but he does not expect him to leave "Man Utd".

On Tuesday, the manager of the English vice-champions, Alex Ferguson, admitted that Rooney refused to extend his contract for another eighteen months and expressed a desire to leave the team.

"I think he will stay in Manchester," Mourinho told "Sky Sports". "There are probably reasons why Wayne wants to change his surroundings, but he belongs to 'Man Utd' and to the fans of this club."

He added: "But if in the end 'Man Utd' decides to sell him, give me a call.

"But who wouldn't want such a player in their team, but again, I don't think the transfer will happen. I like him, I like Ferguson, I like 'Man Utd', so I think it would be best for the striker to stay where he is."
