Wayne Rooney's joy signing a new five-year contract with the club was somewhat dampened when team doctors announced that the striker will not be able to play until mid-November.
The England national team member is plagued by a chronic ankle injury, which he suffered in last year's UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
Due to recurring pain, Rooney did not complete the team training on Tuesday.
The doctors' conclusions were confirmed to the radio station "Key103" by "Red Devils" manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "Wayne will not be able to play for three weeks."
