UEFA has disqualified the club's security guard Miguel Angel Angulo from seven matches. The footballer received this punishment for hooligan behavior in the Champions League match against Bremen. The Spanish champions lost this match with a score of 0-2 and were eliminated from the competition.

At the end of the match, M. Angulo rudely tackled Paraguayan striker Nelson Valdez, who scored both goals for the German club, causing a scuffle on the field. Referee A. Frisk expelled the player from the field for this. Moreover, on his way to the locker room, M. Angulo even kicked one of the opponents. All of this was captured by television cameras. However, a few days later, M. Angulo publicly apologized.

Valencia club was also fined 26 thousand euros (90 thousand litas) for the players' scuffles and the use of pyrotechnic devices by fans. Werder club was fined 3.5 thousand euros (12 thousand litas) for the behavior of players involved in the scuffle as well.
