The performance of a 56-year-old football coach in the Belarusian Premier League did not help his team avoid defeat, reports the AP agency.
Yuri Pudyshev, who is an assistant coach at Brest Dynamo, stepped onto the field in the second half against BATE Borisov wearing a shirt marked with number 56. The spectators greeted him by applauding.
Despite the 0-2 loss, the Belarusian Football Federation selected Pudyshev as the best player of the match.
Pudyshev, who has previously been a champion in the Soviet Union and represented the national team, has worn the professional shirt several times in recent years.
According to head coach Yuri Puntus, his colleague is an excellent example of dedication to football and long-term service.
