Strategist Sir Alex Ferguson acknowledged that Wayne Rooney may be forced to rest longer than three weeks as initially predicted.
The 25-year-old striker, who suffered a shin injury during training, is currently on vacation - his leg condition requires rest.
"It's not a healing process, just rest, but it may last longer than three weeks," said Ferguson.
Rooney recently signed a new five-year contract with the club.
