Newcomer Joe Cole admits that this season he is not showing the kind of game that the team's coaches and fans expect.
This summer, the midfielder left London's Chelsea and became a free agent, eventually signing with Liverpool. Despite high expectations, so far Cole has not been able to become one of the team's leaders.
"I'm not playing well and I'm not trying to deny it," the Englishman who has scored just one goal so far told the Daily Star. "We have to deal with the bad period that the club is currently going through.
"You have to be a man and accept the challenge. It's true, I have never had to deal with it before, but I'm doing everything to improve the situation."
And he added: "I didn't start the season well, but everything will change."
Currently, Cole is recovering from a minor injury suffered in Sunday's match against Bolton. It is unclear whether he will be able to appear on the field in the Europa League match against Napoli on Thursday and in the crucial English championship match against Chelsea on Saturday.
