The new owner John Henry hopes that the team will soon be on par with English giants such as "Chelsea" and "Man Utd." Giving an interview to BBC television, the American did not make promises, but when asked when "Liverpool" will compete again for the national championship title, he said: "We cannot schedule it. Within five years, and even earlier, we need to be competitive with "Arsenal," "Chelsea," and "Man Utd."

He added: "We need to be neck to neck with them every year. That is our goal." Henry did not deny that the team will be strengthened, but intended to focus more on young football players.

"Without a doubt, we will aim to acquire players of the highest caliber, but their age is very important," the American stated. "We are not the youngest team in the league, we do not have enough depth on the bench, we need more youth."
