Sofia's "Levski" defender Ivo Ivanov fought back tears as he stepped onto the field after a substitution, spending just 14 seconds on the pitch before... scoring an own goal.
According to statistics, this is probably the fastest own goal scored in his team's net after a substitution in a European tournament.
The footballer "shined" in the European League match against "Lille" in the 87th minute, equalizing the score at 2-2 with a header.
"This is the worst moment of my career," Ivanov said. "I can't explain it. I just wanted to clear the ball. It was very painful to see it end up in the net."
He added: "I am incredibly grateful to my teammates, coaches, and amazing fans who supported me."
After the match, the tearful player was escorted by fans chanting his name.
