The threat of a strike by football players rises again in Italy © EuroFootball.com

Italian "Serie A" league clubs rejected the proposal to resume negotiations with the player association (AIC), therefore the threat of strike has arisen again.

The president of the Italian Football Federation, Giancarlo Abete, who is the mediator in these negotiations, urged to set aside the most controversial issues, but "Serie A" leader Maurizio Beretta rejected such an option, stating that all problems must be considered.

Players' representatives are threatening to strike if an agreement is not reached by November 30.

The collective agreement guaranteeing players' rights between AIC and "Serie A" expired this summer.

One of the most problematic issues is the innovation proposed by the clubs, restricting players' ability to obstruct transfers. Clubs want players with one year left on their contract to be required to agree to move to another club if they are offered the same financial conditions.
