"Panathinaikos" in Athens terminated the contract with coach Nikos Nioplias by mutual agreement. He will be temporarily replaced by the Pole Jacek Gmoch.
Nioplias has recently received a lot of criticism for promoting a defensive style of play. Nevertheless, the team is currently tied for first place in the Greek championship with their fierce rival, Olympiacos of Piraeus.
"I leave the club as a friend, always believing that I represented its best interests," the specialist said. "Together we experienced unforgettable moments, such as winning the national championship and cup double last season, which will stay in my memory."
