Having tested many new players, the Lithuanian national football team lost 0:2 to the Hungarian team in their last friendly match of the year.
"We want to play as well as possible, but the most important thing was to test the players in different positions. We saw that the youth still need to improve, and it's too early to write off the veterans," said the head coach of the Lithuanian national team Raimondas Žutautas.
In the starting lineup of the Lithuanian team, compared to the last EURO 2012 qualification cycle match in Spain, there were six changes, with three players – Mantas Fridrikas, Tadas Eliošius, and Artūras Jeršovas - making their debut in the national team.
The match at the "Sostoi" stadium in Székesfehérvár ended the first half goalless. However, after the break, the hosts showed their superiority. The goals were scored by the striker Tamás Priskin playing in England, and the goalkeeper Balázs Dzsudzsák from PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands).
The Lithuanian national team is planning their next friendly match in February next year. At the end of March, the Lithuanians will face Spain, the current European champions, in the EURO 2012 qualification match at home.
