Captain Steven Gerrard will not be able to play for about four weeks due to a calf injury.
The midfielder got injured while representing the England national team in a friendly match against France.
This news has angered the leaders and coaches of Liverpool, as it was agreed with the national team coach Fabio Capello that Gerrard would play no longer than an hour. However, he stayed on the field much longer and was only substituted in the 84th minute.
Capello justified his decision by stating that another midfielder, Gareth Barry, had also suffered an injury before half-time, so he did not want to leave the young midfielders without an experienced leader.
