Milan's striker Samuel Eto'o has apologized for hitting an opponent in the chest, which led to a three-match suspension.
Eto'o lost control during a match against Verona's "Chievo" when, unnoticed by the referees, he hit opposing goalkeeper Cesar in the chest with his head.
The Cameroonian, who has become the undeniable leader of the struggling Italian team, will not be able to play until the new year.
"I apologize to the referees who did not see the incident," Eto'o said. "Also to the fans of 'Inter' and all football lovers."
The footballer also expressed regret that he will not be able to help his team mates, and personally apologized to "Inter" president Massimo Moratti.
