The captain of Amsterdam, Luis Suarez, who tried to bite an opponent, has been disqualified for seven matches.
In the match between Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, which ended in a draw, a dispute between players of both teams arose, with the Uruguayan taking the opportunity to bite the opposing defender Otman Bakkal. After this attack by Suarez, the referee showed a red card to Bakkal, but the culprit remained unpunished.
The Dutch team then suspended the striker for two matches, but the country's football officials decided to impose much stricter sanctions.
In the national championships, the Uruguayan will not be able to play until February 4 next year. However, he will be allowed to step onto the field in European cup tournaments.
