Bilbao extended their contract with goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz.
The highly valued 29-year-old goalkeeper was set to become a free agent in the summer and was being eyed by several top European clubs.
It was reported that the possibility of acquiring the Spaniard was being considered by London's Arsenal and Barcelona, but he decided to stay with the Basque team.
Iraizoz will continue to wear the Athletic shirt for another four and a half years.
