Strategist Luigi Del Neri promised that in the UEFA Europa League match against Poznan's "Lech", his team will fight only for victory.
During the pre-match press conference, the coach once again denied journalists' claims that the "Juventus" club was focusing solely on the Italian championship.
"All the tournaments we participate in are important - both the 'Serie A' championships and the Europa League," stated Del Neri.
"It would be a shame if we were eliminated. We want to advance to the next stage and that's why we will try. We have dedicated a lot of time and effort to this tournament, so we will fight for a ticket to the next stage. We have achieved decent results in the championship and that has given us more opportunities to reach this goal," he added.
Del Neri emphasized that they are going to Poland to fight only for victory and are not worried about the bad weather conditions: "Lately, the weather in Turin hasn't been kind to us either. The most important thing is that the pitch doesn't freeze. In the end, it will be cold for everyone in Poznan, although the 'Lech' players may adapt more easily, we have also played in below-zero temperatures before. The air temperature will not be the decisive factor."
The strategist didn't even try to hide the fact that due to injuries and UEFA regulations thinning out the team, they don't have many choices. Right from the start of the match, Del Neri will field Vincenzo Camilleri, a right-back from the Juventus youth team.
"Iaquinta and Del Piero will play up front. Melo needs rest. Camilleri? It's probably clear to everyone that he will play because there are no other options. Moreover, he has played abroad and has tasted high-level football with 'Reggina'," he explained.
The coach also mentioned the importance of not rotating players too much, as otherwise the team can become unbalanced.
At the end of the press conference, Del Neri assured that they will definitely honor the memory of "Juventus" club legend Gaetano Scirea, one of the best defenders of all time, who tragically died in a car accident in Poland on September 3, 1989.
"After this tragedy, 'Juventus' will visit Poland for the first time. We will definitely pay tribute to Gaetano's memory. He was a true champion and a wonderful person who gave so much to the world of football," Del Neri emphasized.
