The London club will have to do without defender Alex for the next two months, who underwent knee surgery.

The 28-year-old footballer played for a while while enduring pain, but eventually decided to lie down on the operating table.

"The knee is fixed, so now we need six to eight weeks of rehabilitation," said Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

However, the London team also received better news - another center-back, John Terry, will return to the field this weekend. The Englishman has resolved the issue with his leg nerve and no longer feels pain, so he will appear in the starting lineup.
