The defender of the Dutch national team admitted that he would like to leave Italy and return to his homeland.

"I would agree to a lower salary if I could return to Ajax. Now I understand what I had in the Netherlands. I would rather play in the Mickey Mouse league than sit on the bench in Italy," said Van der Meyde.

Before the season, he moved from Amsterdam to Milan to play for . His services were highly sought after by Hector Cuper, who was coaching Inter at the time. Therefore, at the beginning of the season, Van der Meyde was often playing in the starting lineup and had already started to establish himself in the team.

However, Hector Cuper was dismissed and his replacement, Alberto Zaccheroni, rarely found a place for Van der Meyde in his tactical plans. The player himself does not understand the reasons for this: "I played well in the first half. But after five minutes of the second half, I was substituted. I just couldn't understand it."

In an interview with a Dutch website, Van der Meyde added: "If I receive an offer from a club that interests me, I will consider it. Being in Serie A, I have already learned my lesson."
