Vice President Adriano Galliani criticized Italian clubs that participated in the UEFA Europa League for poor results. Galliani is upset that after the first stage, Turin's Juventus, Genoa's Sampdoria, Palermo, and Napoli are on the brink of elimination, which would prevent Italy from retaining four spots in the UEFA Champions League tournament. In the official ranking, determined by club results, Italy would be surpassed by Germany, currently holding three places. "Since 2012, only two Italian teams will qualify directly for the Champions League, and one will play in the qualifiers," said Galliani. "This is a blow to our football. And we have to thank those who played in the Europa League for it." One of the leaders of Milan also expressed support for Milan's Inter in the Club World Cup: "Of course, I say: 'Forza Inter!' In Italy, we are rivals, but on the international stage - certainly not."
