Madrid and Spain national team striker Fernando Morientes, according to his agent, is not planning to leave his current club until he talks to the new team coach Wanderley Luxemburgo.
A few days ago, the club's official website announced that Morientes had given verbal consent to move to an English team once the transfer window opens, citing the excellent relationship between him and "Liverpool" coach Rafael Benitez as the main reason.
However, Morientes' agent Gines Carvajal rushed to deny this information, stating that his client did not actually say anything like that to the "Liverpool" representatives.
"I can confirm that Fernando did not give any verbal or written consent to the "Liverpool" team and did not say anything similar to the English press," said Carvajal.
"Fernando is definitely not planning to move anywhere until he talks to the new team coach and clarifies what his role will be in Luxemburgo's tactical plans."
"I also do not believe that the club president would agree to sell the player without even talking to the new team manager."
This is the second similar case this week where the English press has provided inaccurate information about player transfers. Earlier, there were reports that another Spanish team's player, Pablo Aimar, could also move to the "Liverpool" club, but they were also denied, as we reported earlier.
