The team announced today that their young goalkeeper Ahmed Yahiaoui has rejected the offer from London and will remain with his current team.
As we reported earlier, the London club made an offer to the player at the beginning of this week to sign a long-term five-year contract with the team, but the 17-year-old footballer ultimately decided to stay with the Marseille team.
Yahiaoui, who helped the French U-17 team win the European Championship last May, is considered one of the most talented young footballers in Europe at the moment, so it's not surprising that European football giants like Chelsea are trying to attract him by looking at future prospects.
"Marseille is my city, and Marseille is my club," said Yahiaoui. "I am very pleased that such famous clubs are interested in me, but for now, I don't want to go anywhere."
"I have already firmly decided to stay, but I have not yet officially announced it to the representatives of Chelsea."
