Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Michael Rensing will wear the team's jerseys starting from January.

The 26-year-old footballer has been a free agent since this summer, when he left the Bavarian team.

Rensing is considered the successor to the legendary Oliver Kahn at Bayern and the German national team, but under both Juergen Klinsmann and Louis van Gaal's leadership, he lost the competition to veteran Hans-Jorg Butt.

Rensing's contract with Koln will be valid for six months.
