The young striker Mario Balotelli is not lacking in self-confidence - the footballer, who holds Italian citizenship, stated that the only player better than him in the world is Lionel Messi.
Balotelli, who recently left Manchester City for around 27 million euros, was awarded the prize for the best European player (under 21 years old) over the weekend.
"I want to be the best in the world," said the 20-year-old Italian. "Having ambitions is good. I have already said that I don't care about what others want or expect from me. The most important thing is that I know what I want myself.
"Now I want to win the best prize without any age restrictions. There is only one player slightly stronger than me - Lionel Messi. Everyone else is behind me."
Balotelli won the award presented by "Tuttosport", surpassing Arsenal defender Jack Wilshere. The striker admitted he had never heard of him before.
"What's his name? Will..? No, I don't know him, but next time I play against Arsenal, I will definitely pay attention. Maybe I will even show the award I received," Balotelli said to "Daily Mirror."
