The sports magazine "Kicker" recognized Bastian Schweinsteiger as the best German footballer of the year.
The footballer representing the Munich club, who recently signed a new long-term contract, was one of the country's leaders in the World Cup held in the summer. Germany reached the semifinals in that tournament.
Schweinsteiger, who made his debut in the main squad of "Bayern" in 1998, played in 223 matches, becoming a five-time national champion and winning the national cup just as many times.
