Former Lithuanian national team strategist Jose Couceiro returns to his homeland - starting from the new year, the Portuguese will work as the general director of Lisbon's "Sporting" club.
The 48-year-old specialist arrived in Lithuania in 2008, taking the helm of "FBK Kaunas", and soon after, following a successful performance in the Champions League qualifying tournament, he was offered the position of the national team coach.
Couceiro led the team from 2008 to 2010, and our footballers finished in 4th place in the World Cup qualifying tournament, losing to Serbia, France, and Austria, while surpassing Romania and the Faroe Islands.
After leaving Lithuania, Couceiro worked for a season at the Turkish club "Gaziantepspor", and now he has turned to "Sporting".
