Argentinian clubs are drowning in debts © EuroFootball.com

The sports news website "Canchallena.com" reports that the debts of Argentine clubs have exceeded the 1 billion Argentine pesos mark (almost 200 million euros).

In 2010, the debts of clubs increased by 144 million to a massive sum of 1.121 billion pesos. Only four teams - "Lanus", "Godoy Cruz", Linjerso "Velez" and La Platos "Estudiantes" - managed to reduce their debts through good management. By the way, "Lanus" and "Godoy Cruz" no longer have any debts.

The biggest "stuck" clubs are the giants of Argentina. The most indebted is the country's title-holding team Buenos Aires' "River Plate" - 50 million euros (216 million pesos). Following them are Avellaneda's "Independiente" - 27 million, Avellaneda's "Racing" - 20 million, Buenos Aires' "Boca Juniors" and "San Lorenzo" - with debts over 18 million euros each. The debt of the Apertura champions La Plata's "Estudiantes" is 4 million euros.

It is worth noting that the debts of Argentine clubs increased despite the significantly increased income from television broadcasts.
