January 11, 2011 - this date could become fatal in the history of the Ramenskoye football club. Up until this day, the club can only hope to attract investors who will help to escape from the avalanche of debts.
The incompetent club management plunged "Saturn" into enormous debts, which now amount to 803 million Russian rubles (69 million litas).
The team's veteran Andrėj Karyaka can only shrug his shoulders: "If already at the end of 2009 the club faced serious financial problems, then why weren't the big ambitions abandoned and the financial activity not organized sensibly?"
Even the long-time supporter of the club - the Moscow region administration - turned away from the team. Its representative Sergey Perninkov shifted responsibility and claims that the local authorities cannot take on the obligations of the joint stock company "Saturn" and pay off the debts, as it is prohibited by law.
Just a few weeks ago, news hit like a meteor that the club was about to be rescued by unnamed Mexican brewers, but even this burning hope did not take long to extinguish in the hearts of "Saturn" fans.
It seems that only the team's players and coaches, who defended the honor of the "aliens" for over half a year without receiving a penny, do not give up.
The day before yesterday, they sent an open letter to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, asking for help to save the 64-year-old Ramenskoye football club. But this is probably just a cry in the wilderness...
In the history of Ramenskoye's "Saturn," Lithuanian national team players - Rolandas Džiaukštas and Edgaras Česnauskis - left a significant mark.
