Leverkusen and German national team goalkeeper Rene Adler does not hide that his idol is Peter Schmeichel, and his dream team is Manchester United.
In Adler's contract there is a condition only for the "Red Devils" club, according to which they can acquire the 25-year-old footballer for £15 million.
"I told the Leverkusen management that I will not negotiate a new contract until April," Adler said. "Now I just want to help the team secure a place in next year's UEFA Champions League tournament.
"When I was a child, my friends watched cartoons, "MTV" and German TV channels, but I was interested only in one person - Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
"He was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute I saw him on TV. My whole room was full of Schmeichel posters and United souvenirs.
I had a few other football idols, like Paul Gascoigne or Zinedine Zidane, but no one impressed me like Peter Schmeichel."
