For six months, Gelzenkirchen borrowed the security of Jermaine Jones.
The 29-year-old footballer, representing the United States national team, became the second winter purchase of an English club. A few days ago, the team was supplemented by striker Roque Santa Cruz.
"I am very happy with this newcomer," said Blackburn coach Steve Kean. "He fights well for balls and executes passes well."
In the German championship, Jones played 10 matches and scored one goal.
