The Sports Arbitration Court disqualified arbitrator Oleg Orekhov, who participated in match-fixing.
It is alleged that the Ukrainian had close ties with criminal gangs. From one of them, the referee received almost 50 thousand euros in bribes in order to influence the result of the 2009 Europa League match between Basel and Sofia's CSKA.
UEFA requires referees to immediately report such offers, but Orekhov defended himself claiming he couldn't speak English and didn't know who to turn to exactly.
