Team captain Carles Puyol will miss the first leg of the Spanish King's Cup ("Copa del Rey") semi-final match against "Almeria".
This was revealed after additional health checks on the player were carried out on Sunday.
In the "Liga BBVA" championship match against Santander's "Racing" team, Puyol played the entire first half, but was substituted during halftime, with Gerard Pique taking his place on the field.
It is reported that the footballer is complaining of pain in his left knee. It is precisely for this reason that the defender was not registered for the King's Cup match against Seville's "Betis".
FC Barcelona has not yet announced how long the captain will be sidelined, but it is confirmed that conservative methods will be used for treatment.
It is already clear that Puyol will not be able to play in the match against "Almeria" and possibly in the weekend match against "Hercules" from Alicante.
