Madrid's defensive midfielder Mahamadou Diarra is leaving the capital's club and, after passing a medical examination, will join another team.

Although the conditions of the transfer are not disclosed, according to Spanish newspapers, the French team will pay 1.5 million euros for the Malian national team player.

The 29-year-old footballer, whose contract with Real Madrid expired at the end of this season, arrived at the "royal" club from Lyon in the summer of 2006 for 25 million euros and won two "Liga BBVA" championships with the team - in 2007 and 2008.

For the fans of the "Meringues," Diarra will always be remembered for his winning goal in the decisive matches of the 2007-2008 season's national championship against Mallorca.
