Gelsenkirchen strategist Felix Magath enlisted one of the most popular social networking sites in the world to calm angry team fans.

Last season, the club finished second in the German championship, but this season it is struggling and is currently in 11th place. Fans are also not happy with the deals that took place during the winter transfer window.

"I and the team need support," Magath said in a video. He was featured in a new "Facebook" poll that attracted 20 thousand followers in a day.

"I am talking about fans and their emotions. We need to unite to bring the German championship title back to Gelsenkirchen."

Schalke is one of the most popular clubs in the country, but the last time they won the title was in 1958.

Fans were also not delighted that during the winter, the team was reinforced by 32-year-old midfielder Ali Karimi and 30-year-old striker Angelos Charisteas. According to them, there are too many veterans in the team.
